Wednesday marked the day of the first official workout for Red Sox pitchers and catchers in Fort Myers, Florida, as Spring Training has kicked off.
Left-hander Chris Sale met with the media that day, and Red Sox fans were extremely pleased to hear his response when asked if he'd love to stay in Boston beyond 2019. "I'd love to," Sale said. "I think, you know, I've said that since after my first year. This is a special place, this is a special group of people, a very special city, and unbelievable fan base, not to mention the fact that we've got a hell of a team, and we're gonna have that team for a few years to come. So, you know, it's a good place for me, a good spot, I love to play here, I'd love to keep playing here, and we'll see how it all works out."
Sale, who turns 30 on March 30, will be an unrestricted free agent after the season assuming the Red Sox don't sign him to an extension before then.
