Following Patrice Bergeron's game-winning goal in overtime on Saturday afternoon against the LA Kings, the Bruins were back at TD Garden the next day for another matinee showing, this time against the Colorado Avalanche.
Sunday was quite different than Saturday's 5-4 OT thriller, as Boston and Colorado were tied at one goal after 60 minutes. And with 57 seconds remaining, Brad Marchand beat goalie Semyon Varlamov on this great wrist shot:
Marchand's goal was his 21st of the season and 14th of his career in overtime, extending his franchise record.
John Moore scored his third goal of the season on an assist from Marchand 3:40 into the second period for Boston's other tally, while Nathan MacKinnon's 29th goal with 33 seconds remaining in the first period accounted for Colorado's lone mark.
Jaroslav Halak made 35 saves on the afternoon for the Bruins, while Varlamov stopped all but two of the 35 shots he faced.
Boston improved to 31-17-8 with the win and are currently one point behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for second place in the Atlantic Division; Colorado fell to 22-22-11, as their 55 points are tied with the Chicago Blackhawks for fewest in the Central Division.
